Spring Sale at the Barn

The spring sale I participate in at My Dad's Farm is coming soon.  Here are a couple of pics of some of the goodies I delivered to the Barn last weekend.

If you have never been to the sale, you are missing out!  It runs the first two weekends in May.  If you are local to the area, you won't be disappointed.

My Dad's Farm

New Booth in a Brand New Antique Mall!

I have a new booth in a brand new antique mall that opened last month--119 Antique Trading Post!

I've been wanting to share some pics of my space before this, but there was always something else that needed done.  And...I kept forgetting to take pics each time I was there.  But finally, here's a look.

It has changed weekly as items have sold and new items have been added.  The wire dress form in the above pic sold a couple of days ago.  That was such a neat find.  The new owner is going to use it to display the vintage jewelry she refabs.  I was hoping there was a creative soul out there who would see the potential in that neat vintage piece.

The flower wreaths are made from old book pages.

Both of the display shelves were made by a local Amish craftsman for my bricks and mortar shop years ago.  They break down, so they are easy to store when not needed.  I've even used them at shows.  I decided to frame the outside edge of my booth with them for now...they hold a lot of smalls and provide hanging space too.  They help me utilize vertical space as well as creating an interior area in my booth for more goodies...

 

The chest of drawers and secretary have both sold (yay!!) so I had to revamp the back wall this past week.  I have a few crates stacked to the left of the dresser--crates are always great to use for display--very versatile.

I made my "raggedy" swag from some vintage floral dresses and old sheets.  I am not much of a "pastel" person, however, I wanted something to add a touch of spring/summer to the wall.  I like the way it turned out.

 I add new inventory on at least a weekly basis.  And along with the other 50± vendors, I'm sure you will find some special treasures just calling your name.

It's Christmas in The Barn!

 If you are local to W PA, you won't want to miss this show.  The old barn is full of handcrafted goodies and antiques...It runs two weekends, November 1, 2, 3 and November 8, 9, 10.  Hours are Friday from 12-8 pm; Saturday/Sunday from 10 am-4 pm.

The Barn is decorated with the wares of over 70 vendors.

Primitve Vintage Cloche Makeover

I just finished a makeover on three vintage cheese domes I found while thrifting.  They are all primmed up and ready to go.  I put a couple of pine cones in one and a shabby little birdie in another to show what can be done with these.

I will most likely be taking these to the spring Barn Sale that I am part of in May.  I will post more complete info on the sale soon.  If you are in our area, you'll want to check it out...stay tuned for details.

Some Primitive Creations

I've been updating my Etsy shop with some new creations

and thought I would share a few with you...

Made this peg rack from old weathered red barn board and authentic square nails for pegs.  Tacked on a prim stitchery quote for more prim-ness!

Below is an old breadboard that I painted and distressed--wired an old canning jar to the front.  It makes a neat vase or even a utensil holder in the kitchen.

And last is an old weathered barn board to which I tacked a stitchery quote and homespun.  This can be a shelf sitter or hang on the wall.

Dry Erase Message Board Craft

Thought I would share a gift I made for a friend's bridal shower.

A thrifted frame, scrapbook paper and a printed quote=a cute dry erase board.

Simple and practical!

Oh, Baby...it's a party...

Last week we had a baby shower for d-i-l and son...first grandchild of ours making us wait for his/her appearance 'til the end of September.

Just wanted to share some pics of the decor with you--I made the decorations and even tried my hand at the cupcakes. If you haven't figured it out, it was a zoo theme. Colors were gender neutral--there are so few real surprises in life and I am so glad the parents-to-be decided to wait for this very special surprise.


Little bags of animal cookies made perfect little favors. I think everything turned out really cute, if I do say so myself.


I turned my "flop" cupcakes into cake balls--which were a big hit. Hubby nicknamed them "fat pills". Whatever you call them, they were yummy!

I had a little assistance with the ABC blocks...first was Mr. Lowe's Man who cut two perfectly good 8-foot 2x4's into 3 pieces each for us so we could fit them into my Jeep Wrangler. What can I say--it was a beautiful summer day and we decided to go "topless"--don't judge us too harshly ;). Anyway, Mr. Lowe's man didn't even act surprised--he totally understood as he drove a Camry and said he could relate...Then Son #2 lovingly cut each block for me--you see he had our chop saw and wasn't quite ready to give it back yet--so he volunteered to cut them and retain ownership of our saw for awhile longer...Next dear hubby carefully sanded each one--I started sanding by hand but innovative genius that he is, he soon pulled out the belt sander and did a fine job of smoothing out all of the rough spots in preparation for me to paint them. Through all of that teamwork, we not only had cute decorations for the centerpieces, but now we are all set with enough blocks to build an impressive tower with Grandbaby--as soon as he/she can sit up of course!

Now on to the second spring show...just wanted to let you all know about a different spring show full of handcrafted goodies and antiques...there is a wonderful bi-annual sale in the Red Barn at My Dad's Farm, (The Fichthorn Farm 940 Fort Run Road, Ford City, PA 16226 (just off of Rt 66 between Kittanning and Ford City--turn at the Riverside Market). It runs the next two weekends, Friday, May 1 & 8 from 12-8 pm; Saturday, May 2 & 9 from 10 am-4 pm; and Sunday, May 3 & 10 from 10 am-4 pm. There will be items from over 50 vendors--wood products...antiques...candles...stained glass...furniture...quilted items...hanging baskets...rugs...jewelry...purses...dried florals...handmade dolls...hand-painted items...pottery...scarves...dips...spreads...jellies...baked goods...and more!

This is my first time participating in this show--when I dropped off my items, I was amazed...the barn was packed to the gills and wonderfully displayed!
