SUNDAY SOJOURN

These words are from the song Hosanna by Hillsong United.  They speak to me each time I sing them.

 

Too often we go thru life seeing only what we want to see...focused on ourselves and all we have to accomplish..ignoring the hurting hearts behind those faces we pass each day.

 

Have you ever prayed the above prayer?  Do you think if you did, you just might make a difference in your world? 

 

"Cause if you pray it, and your eyes are opened to the hurts, the injustices, the wronged of the world...I believe you may just happen to feel the need to do something to make a difference.

 

And the great thing about it all is that we don't need to be capable in our own selves to accomplish the task, whatever it may be.  When we open our hearts and lives to God, he can work his love through us...we are the vessel--but the ability and power comes from him.

 

So what do you think...will you pray these words...will you look and truly see...and then reach out and make a difference in your world?   

Typewriter Love - Vintage Style

Don't you love my vintage typewriter?  It is an Underwood Universal--and from what I can find, it is a portable made some time post-war until the new machines appeared in the 1950's.  I need to purchase a ribbon for it--would love to use it in my scrapbooking and crafting.  

Here is some brief info on the Underwood typewriter:

The Underwood Typewriter Company was a manufacturer of typewriters headquartered in New York City, New York.  Underwood produced what is considered the first widely successful, modern typewriter.  By 1939, Underwood had produced five million machines.

The original Underwood typewriter was invented by German-American Franz Xaver Wagner, who showed it to entrepreneur John Thomas Underwood.  Underwood supported Wagner and bought the company, recognizing the importance of the machine.  Underwood No. 1 and No. 2s, made between 1896 and 1900, had "Wagner Typewriter Co." printed on the back.

The Underwood No. 5 launched in 1900 has been described as "the first truly modern typewriter".  Two million had been sold by the early 1920s, and its sales “were equal in quantity to all of the other firms in the typewriter industry combined”.  When the company was in its heyday as the world's largest typewriter manufacturer, its factory at Hartford, Connecticut was turning out typewriters at the rate of one each minute.
